Description
In some situations higher derivative interactions modify the leading order physics significantly. For a class of black holes in string theory the important terms are singled out by anomalies and supersymmetry. Quantitative computations are possible using the explicit supersymmetric Lagrangian. In some cases the higher derivative corrections resolve singularities in the leading order result in a controlled manner.
