Description
I will present a personal view on the inception and construction of a very unique regional scientific project. SESAME is an international centre for research and advanced technology. It will be centered around a high quality light source in Jordan. The source being built by a collaboration and for the benefit of scientists in the region. In 2012 the project has received a serious set of boosts which I will report on. The project has very strong connections to Cern, its vision follows that which led to the founding of Cern, the regional collaborations were envisaged in Cern's corridors and cafeteria, scientists and general directors from Cern and related to Cern played and are playing a key role in actualizing Sesame.
