TB proposes to create a new Indico server exclusively dedicated to JACoW conferences. This server would be hosted, maintained and supported by CERN-IT and open to all JACoW conferences. One of the first users would be LINAC14, that would use the registration module and may be the timetable.
The important point in this operation would be to link this server with the JACoW user database.
VS presents the existing possibility which is an http API allowing to search for users using last and first names and retrieve their associated metadata from the central JACoW DB.
TB states that this would be an important point in the integration process but the key one would be to use a central JACoW authentication service which would suppress the need of a local account copy. This service would allow authentication and send back the profile of the user, for creating a local copy. This service does not exist and VS will discuss this possibility with Ivan Andrian and other JACoW team members.
Green light from the JACoW community for implementing such a service or for allowing the Indico server to get a full copy of the user DB could only be granted at the JACoW TM in November which would be a bit late for LINAC. FG gives the LINAC deadlines: 1st Feb 2014 for the abstract submission and 1st April for the registration opening.
TB asks for the status of the Indico-JACoW abstract gateways. VS says they are still around although they may need refreshment due to some recent changes in the JACoW data structure.
VS will keep TB and FG informed about his internal discussions on the Indico proposal and needed authentication service.
