The ground motion mitigation concept of CLIC with focus on the beam orbit feedback

Room: 6/2-024 - BE Auditorium Meyrin Ground motion is a severe issue for the operation of CLIC. Already from the first few beam trains on, ground motion would degrade the luminosity of CLIC to an unacceptable level. Since CLIC operates in a completely new sensitivity regime with respect to ground motion, new ground motion mitigation strategies had to be designed and tested. In this presentation, we give an overview of the four foreseen mitigation methods and their interactions. It is also shown how extensive simulations have been used to verify the ability of these methods to preserve the luminosity of CLIC. Additionally, we focus in more detail on one of the four mitigation methods, the beam orbit feedback, and describe its design, performance and robustness with respect to imperfections.
