Description
ECOS-LINCE WORKSHOP: PERSPECTIVES OF HIGH INTENSITY BEAMS AT THE LINCE FACILITY IN SPAIN

We are pleased to announce the next ECOS Workshop of the European Collaboration on Stable Ion Beams. The workshop is organized by the University of Huelva, and will take place at the Hotel Barceló Punta Umbría Beach Resort located in the Village of Punta Umbría (Huelva, Spain), on October 30-31, 2013. The meeting will have a particular focus on the ECOS-LINCE initiative for installing a high intensity heavy ion linac in Andalusia (Spain).

ECOS is the European Collaboration on Stable ion beams, supported by NuPECC, which gathers nuclear physicist users of stable beam accelerators and participates in the ENSAR FP7 program. As our understanding of the nucleus has developed, further advances increasingly require the study and understanding of more subtle aspects, which require either more beam time for experiments and/or more beam intensity. The latest ECOS report explicitly recommended a dedicated high intensity stable ion beam facility in Europe, with energies at and above the Coulomb barrier. This facility is considered to be one of the important items for the next Long Range Plan of the nuclear physics community in Europe.

The scope of the meeting will include fundamental and applied research topics by using high intensity ion beams:

- Superheavy
- Astrophysics
- Reaction dynamics and clustering
- Nuclear structure
- Ground state properties
- Plasma physics
- Nuclear energy
- Nuclear medicine
- Aerospace
- New methods and facilities

The program will include invited talks as well as participant contributions.

For any further information we kindly ask you to contact the Workshop Secretary, Ms. Ainhoa Salvadores (ainhoa.salvadores@dfa.uhu.es) and the Local Organizing Committee (Ismael Martel, imartel@uhu.es).

Important dates:
- July 15, 2013: Abstract submission and registration open
- October 15, 2013: Deadline for registration and abstract submission

We look forward to meeting you in Huelva!
