The CERN polymer lab (a CERN wide service of long tradition presently based in building 101) has acquired a new rapid prototyping machine (3D printer) based on the stereolithography process. The new equipment provides CERN with the in house capability to quickly build functional pieces for design validation and real use. A wide range of tests have been performed in order to characterise the proposed resins and the machine capability. This seminar will provide an overview of the machine and materials performances (electrical, mechanical from cryogenic temperature till 200º C, radiation resistance, dimensional capabilities) and their limits.
Coffee / tea will be served after the seminar
