Description

The T2K long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment will fire a neutrino beam from the JPARC facility on the east coast of Japan, 295km to the Super Kamiokande detector. At a distance of 280m from the neutrino beam source a Near Detector will be used to parametrise the beam. The optical channels of the 280m Near Detector will be instrumented using a relatively new photosensor, the Geiger-mode Multipixel APD. A study detailing the operational parameters of Hamamatsu MPPCs will be presented.
