Description

A luminosity upgrade to 1035 cm-2 s-1 for the LHC is expected after 2016. In order to maintain physics performance, the CMS experiment will also require upgrading; principally to the tracking and triggering systems, since detector occupancies and trigger rates are expected to be much higher. We report on ongoing studies into possible tracker designs and the feasibility of using tracking information in a Level 1 Trigger.
