Description
Within the scopes of its DISCORAP project, INFN has designed, built and tested a half-length model (3.8 m) of the main dipole for the fast-cycled SIS-300 synchrotron at FAIR (Darmstadt, Germany). This magnet exploits a low-loss Rutherford cable, whose cross-over and adjacent contact resistances (Rc andRa) are controlled by means of a stainless steel core and air oxidization. G. Volpini will present the test station developed at LASA lab. to measure Ra and Rc on a cable stack, which exploits a cryogenic mechanical test machine to perform measurements under controlled stress, also in cycling conditions, along with the main experimental results and open issues
