Lasers have a variety of applications in particle accelerator operation and will play a key role in the development of future particle accelerators by improving the generation of high brightness electron and exotic ion beams and through increasing the acceleration gradient. The third LA³NET Topical Workshop is focussed on techniques using of lasers for particle acceleration.

The workshop will cover the science and technology of novel acceleration schemes for ion and electron beams including:
  • Plasma wake field acceleration
  • Dielectric accelerators
  • Advanced diagnostics
  • Scientific, medical and industrial applications
Each topic area will be initiated by a renowned speaker invited to talk for 40 minutes about the state-of-the-art and their own research in this field. This will be followed by pre-arranged 20 minute slots for talks by the delegates about their latest research and contribution to the topic area plus questions. All participants in the workshop are invited to use the 'Submit a new abstract' link to upload abstracts.

There will also be the chance to discuss the current state-of-the-art and future funding requirements. A tour of the lasers and ELBE accelerator at the HZDR laboratories is included in the programme.

The workshop is hosted by HZDR in Dresden and organized in partnership with the LA³NET consortium.

LA³NET has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no 289191.
