Description
An obvious tool for relating the properties of stable matter to the Standard Model is lattice QCD with a nonzero baryon chemical potential. However this approach is afflicted with a terrible signal-to-noise problem which renders it useless. I examine the origins of this problem, and suggest a way to greatly improve the grand canonical calculation for low baryon density.
