Description
Abstract: The voltage-current characteristics of superconducting wires are generally fitted with an empirical power law with the well-known “n-index” as a parameter. In literature, some models have been proposed to justify this experimental behaviour, starting from the statistical description of the critical current distribution along the wire. A review and an extension of these models will be presented, underlining the relationship between the experimental voltage-current characteristic and the statistical dispersion of the critical current distribution. Some experimental data analyses will be also discussed.
