TMB meeting: July 30, 2008 Present: At CERN: Maite Barroso, Francesco Giacomini, Massimo Lamanna, John White, Oliver Keeble On the phone: Cal Loomis, Vangelis Floros, Andrey Tsaregorodtsev , Vincent Breton, Stefano Belforte, Monique Petitdidier, Cecile Germaine-Renaud, Steve Fisher Review of list of actions (https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?group=tcg) https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?6649 Local/storage storage: OGF process is not concluded (no answer to public comments yet) Current Glue 2 would make life difficult here Decision: To be assigned to SA3 https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?6651 Agreement to treat it together with 6652 (looked after Steve) and 7106 (SA1). The whole lot should be rediscussed in October. We agreed to close all 3, create a new task and have a status report after EGEE08. https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?6823 Daniele is leading the discussion it in SA1. Deadline for comments passed (not much feedback). Wait for Daniele to be back (it is possible he got comments via personal email) https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?6901 Work in progress. Expect some news end of August (next TMB) https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?7163 Phone call with dCache developers. The problem seem to be in their implementation more than in xrootd itself. https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?7187 https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?7188 Being discussed inside SA1 and JRA1 https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?7281 Wait for the EGEE08 conference (session organised by A. Sciaba`). The task has probably an unclear scope: none wants a generic framework. Agreement to concentrate on gLexec (already in the work plan) + certification on security issues (see LCG working group lead by Marteen Litmaath). Andrey advocates that (at a certain point) one could also have a procedure to "validate" the frameworks (provided by the applications). Decision: in the last TMB before the EGEE08, have a discussion to collect all the possible issues (early September) https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?7456 We should check the presentation of Christoph Witzig (his recommendation have been approved. Re-open it only if the proposal is incomplete). Some new info (from Placy) has been received (and circulated) by Francesco and we can discuss it in the next meeting (making sure that Christoph/Placy can be present at the discussion) Discussion on the ES work plan Presentation by Cal and Monique. We focused on development tasks of the plan. The TMB approves the work plan. Discussion on the LS work plan Presentation by Cal and Vincent. We focused on development tasks of the plan. The TMB approves the work plan. Olivier points out that some help is welcome (for SA3) to speed up the adoption of MDM packages within gLite. Vincent is positive although we all agree that this will be done informally (it stays responsibility of SA3 and there is no obvious free effort in NA4). Discussion on the GO work plan Presentation by Cal and Cecile. We focused on development tasks of the plan. The TMB approves the work plan. RGMA Assessment of the R-GMA usage within EGEE. There is no effort allocated (within EGEE) but some effort (18 PM over 24 months) is being volunteered by Steve (other financial sources). In a next meeting Steve will present the new implementation of RGMA, addressing all the experience gathered in the last years, and he will explain what its rollout onto the production infrastructure would entail. This will be useful to compare with the current monitor plan (we will ask James Casey for a presentation). It was also pointed out that EGEE should assess the impact on the current workplan of unfunded contribution (for example on activities like certification). unfunded) to support the current usage of R-GMA (18 PM over 2 years), hence understand the "total cost of ownership" of R-GMA. This should be discussed in a future TMB meeting AOB There are request (notably by ATLAS) to have some clients to be used in python 2.5 application (currently on 2.3 is supported). The TMB understand the importance and will come on this issue again in the next meeting. In the mean time, Francesco (JRA1) and Massimo (ATLAS) will try to evaluate the overall impact (needed clients, complexity, etc...) and SA3 will do some experimental builds to better understand the issues.
