Description
T-REX is an essential part of the MINIBALL project, and is mainly used to study transfer reactions in inverse kinematics. Lastly, using a modified version of T-REX, also Coulomb excitation and incomplete fusion experiments were performed with T-REX at ISOLDE. The main focus of this meeting is, to - discuss the new requirements and current limitations of T-REX , with respect to the higher beam energies and new regulations (access restrictions) at HIE ISOLDE; - discuss the possibility of having a combined silicon array for coulex and transfer experiments; - find a better and more stable solution for the electronics (preamplification, trigger generation); - discuss the status of the future readout system for the silicon detectors (goes together with the on-going discussion for a new readout of MINIBALL); - form a collaboration to share our ideas and coordinate the financial resources for the upgrade of the silicon array; So far, T-REX was maintained mainly by the groups of TU Munich, TU Darmstadt and KU Leuven. The idea is to involve a larger number of people into the upgrade plans. The current LOI's and experimental proposals for HIE-ISOLDE indicate a larger interest in this silicon array, as well as a larger overlap with coulex experiments. Groups from UK already indicated their interest and help in this project. We also started discussions with the French groups, involved in the "GASPARD“ project. The geometry and layout of GASPARD has many features, which are also ideal for HIE ISOLDE. The first meeting will be held on Friday, 5th of September 2014 at CERN starting at 9:00 am.
