The extremely challenging operational conditions of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN has led to many innovative solutions for the treatment and processing of materials to reach particular properties that were unachievable with commercial methods. The forum on material and surface technologies for accelerators will inform the participants about the resulting expertise and technologies that are available for exploitation in high energy physics and in other domains and on the challenges in material and surface technology to be addressed by CERN within the execution of the physics program in the future.
This forum aims at bringing together industry, universities and research centres from CERN member states that are active in domains such as vacuum technology, surface technology and treatment, nanotechnology, new materials, environmental technology and cryogenics. It addresses in particular decision makers such as researchers, CTO’s, R&D directors, Licensing Managers, Technology Scouts and others interested in exploring and acquiring new and innovative technologies.
