Description
We discuss new supersymmetric AdS4 SU(3)-structure vacua of type IIA string theory coming from compactification on nilmanifolds and cosets. Next to form-fluxes there will also be geometric fluxes, which means that specific torsion classes of the SU(3)-structure are non-zero and the internal manifold deviates largely from a CY. Nevertheless, these particular manifolds are tractable enough to derive the low energy theory either using direct Kaluza-Klein reduction or using expressions for the superpotential and Kaehler potential derived for general SU(3)xSU(3)-structures, providing a test on the latter. Most of the cosets models have all moduli stabilized already at tree level. We also discuss the role of geometric fluxes in potentially circumventing a recent no-go theorem against modular inflation in type IIA. The talk is based mainly on 0806.3458, 0804.0614 and also refers to the older work of 0707.1038, 0706.1244.
