This talk will cover the expected performance of the ATLAS and CMS detectors and some of the highlights of the global commissioning work done in 2008 with basically fully operational detectors. A selection of early physics measurements based on 2009/2010 data will be then presented. These are meant to illustrate the importance of understanding the performance of these complex detectors, while...

I will review some of the physics we are learning or expect to learn in
the near future through the observation of cosmic rays. This involves a
combination of data from accelerators, ground arrays, atmospheric
fluorescence detectors, and balloon and satellite experiments. I will
discuss the data of the Pierre Auger Observatory, PAMELA, ATIC and FST
among other experiments.
