Description
This Course is organised within the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF RADIATION DAMAGE AND PROTECTION at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture (EMFCSC) in Erice, Sicily. The objective of this course is to update the knowledge of both professionals and newcomers in the field of operational radiation protection around high energy physics accelerators, as well as accelerators used in medicine for therapy. This also includes environmental aspects, safety systems, training and radioactive waste management. The particularities of operational radiation protection at high-energy accelerators and hadron therapy facilities are the relatively large number of persons potentially radiation exposed, the spatial extension of the facilities, the energy ranges and complexity of the radiation fields and the large volume and wide variety of materials and radioactive waste. Emphasis is given to all aspects of practical implementation of the principles of operational radiation protection at such facilities. DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO:15 APRIL 2009
