- CHEP abstract was submitted
Minutes:
Marian presented status of actions from last meeting, Shawn presented the new perfSONAR documentation as well as IPv6 and Tier-3 status.
On documentation:
Most of the discussion was focused on closing down ports 80 and 443, we have agreed that since this restricts the current functionality, we will make it optional (assuming sites won't disable yum auto update). We have also agreed to remove old ports from the iptables configuration as this can be followed up by the perfSONAR developers.
Bruno and Ewan volunteered to test the instructions and send us feedback.
IPv6
- For sites with IPv6 available we are strongly recommending configuring perfSONAR to be dual-stacked
- Sites with IPv6 should get both
A
andAAAA
records for their perfSONAR DNS name (as well as ensuring the reverse is in place). - All existing meshes will support both IPv4 and IPv6 testing. Sites with both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses testing to sites that also have both will run two tests. A side effect of this is that as more sites provide IPv6 addresses, the amount of testing will increase.
- At some future point when most sites have IPv6, we may need to adjust the testing frequency to reduce the overall amount of testing
- Sites with IPv6 should get both
Tier3
The current proposal is to recommend the following to Tier-3s:
- Setup a few tests to relevant sites manually
- Include the auto-mesh URL from OSG. Once we understand better how to integrate Tier-3s, this URL can be populated.
CHEP2015
We have asked for comments on abstract.
