      ROC update 15m
ROC update *************** There is an SA1 coordination meeting today: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=35515. These seem to replace ROC manager's meetings. There is also "Pilot of CREAM kick-off meeting": http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=35535. On 16th there will be a closed COD meeting. Will is on the attendee list. Also Gilles from RAL: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=34516. - There is a new service type in GOCDB called APEL. It was implemented in order to allow a critical test for APEL publishing that wouldn't affect the CE availability. It will replace the old ce-apel-pub test. At the ROC Managers meeting this morning we were asked to ask all our sites to add this service to a CE node at their site. It doesn't matter which CE - this is a hack to allow a site-wide SAM test. Ops meeting ************** " * Drop of support for plain proxies At present, gLite software is being certified by SA3 using both plain grid proxies as well as VOMS proxies. As the EGEE project has moved away from plain grid proxies to VOMS-based proxies, and SA3 is trying to make the best of its limited manpower, SA3 has proposed to the TMB (former TCG) to drop the support for plain grid proxies (i.e. generated via grid-proxy-init) in the EGEE m/w. EGEE will certify services only with VOMS proxies. Problems or bugs affecting services accessed using plain proxies will be no longer fixed. If you have any objection to this proposal please write to egee-tcg-site-rep@cern.ch before the next TMB (Wed. 18th June 2008). * Issue with upgrade of MyProxy to gLite 3.1 The myproxy-server daemon will hang when it is started from a non-interactive shell. It appears to work fine when started from an interactive shell. The cause of the problem is that the myproxy-server has been linked against a multi-threaded flavor of Globus instead of the single-threaded flavor expected by the code. We have asked the VDT project for an urgent rebuild of the code against the correct Globus flavor. We will certify the new RPM and release it to production with high priority. In the meantime sites can either stay with the MyProxy service provided by gLite 3.0, or restart the myproxy-server interactively as needed. " ROC report issues ******************** https://cic.gridops.org/index.php?section=roc&page=rocreport (for the reports). For the UKI report: http://tinyurl.com/5p5vc6. 1) [RAL T1] Problem with scheduler (maui) being killed regularly traced to monitoring task exposing buffer overflow in maui. Rebuild of maui with enlarged bufferes implemented at 08:30 30/05/08 has cured the problem. 2) [UCL-HEP] Site will go soon behind campus firewall. Had some unexpected problems while tweaking rules to minimum needs. SAMAP would not allow me to submit SAM tests. Later *4th June) informed by support contact that SAMAP at IN2P3had problems. This made site diagnosis harder than expected WLCG update ***************** - There is a GDB on Wednesday: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=20230. Topics include: security; HEPIX highlights; storage update and CPU utilisation. There will also be a review of the pilot jobs framework activities. - UK issues to be raised and reports following the meeting: https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/GDB_reports.
