Description

The Reconfigurable Cluster Element (RCE) generic DAQ concept is an integrated hardware+software ensemble that is aimed to broadly serve the DAQ needs of many experiments and lab test systems. The current version (GEN3) is implemented on the ZYNQ SoC and modular mezzanine boards hosted by the COB (Cluster On Board) ATCA carrier board with an embedded network switch and IPMI. As the matured GEN-3 COB on ATCA is now being deployed to ATLAS CSC and other experiments (LSST, LBNE, HPS etc.), it is the base platform for this workshop.

The workshop is currently envisaged to be one full day, with pedagogical introductory lectures on the RCE Platform Technology (RPT) and application examples, followed by hands-on practice session with COBs in ATCA shelves. All announcements related to the workshop will be carried through the e-group: atlas-highlumi-RCE-development. Participation is open to all. Please see Announcement document attached to the Indico for further details on participation. Participants to the live sessions are strongly encouraged to register so that we can arrange online access and practice session RCE assignment for you. To participate in the practice session you need to bring your own laptop.
