Description
Orbital electron capture decay is a two-body decay govern by the weak interaction where a bound electron is captured by a proton from the nucleus. Highly-charged ions allow us to study this beta-decay branch in clean conditions overcoming higher order corrections arising in neutral atoms due to the many bound electrons. Lifetime studies of bare and few-electron systems have been done employing the storage ring ESR at GSI. This presentation will focus on the half-life measurements of bare and H-like 122I ions.
