Description

In modern optics there are well known states of the laser beam whose photons have a nonzero value of the orbital angular momentum projection on the beam propagation axis. Very recently new experiments had been performed in which the twisted photons with the energy of two orders of magnitude larger and smaller had been produced. Moreover, several groups have reported successful creation of twisted electrons and their remarkable focusing to a focal spot of less than 0.12 nm in diameter. In my talk I review unusual properties of several atomic processes with twisted photons and electrons (new selection rules, unusual angular distribution and polarization of the final particles) which had been discuss in our recent papers.
