Description
Abstract: During the hardware commissioning in 2014-2015 all the main dipoles in the LHC have reached 11.1 kA. In total about 170 quenches were recorded which were not evenly distributed over the different sectors. Especially in sector 45 the training took much longer than in other sectors. Note that the magnets in 7 out of 8 circuits were not powered above 10.3 kA after their training in SM18. The results are being digested and investigated and the data shows clearly that certain batches of magnets in firm 2 and firm 3 show a higher than average number of quenches. In this meeting the results of the training campaign will be presented and the data will be put in perspective to the acceptance tests. This should give a starting point within our group for discussion and investigation of the mechanisms of the training, possible changes during the magnet production and implications for future operation of our magnets. Your input is highly appreciated.
