EGEE-II & EGEE-III: - EGEE'08 Conference preparations ongoing. As of 28 August, 391 participants registered. Programme and logistics organization progressing well. - Work with AIS on the EGEE-III PPT tool: launched for testing timesheets within CERN and one partner, CSC Finland in August. No bugs reported so far. It will next be updated for cost claims with new FP7 rules. - First Quarterly Report underway, due for submission in September. - Severe delays experienced with 4 partners who have not sent their cost statements for the end of EGEE-II. Expected to send the full report in week of 25th August, whether or not the remaining 4 have submitted their claims. - Vacancy notice for the position of EGEE-III technical director posted on 11 August. EGEE and Collaborating Projects * EGEE and Collaborating Projects Booklet preparation (27 project articles + EGEE): final round of review, scheduled for printing (200 copies) 1st week of September for distribution at EGEE'08 http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?resId=0&materialId=0&confId=40247 * Responses to an invitation to work with EGEE which was sent to European researchers funded by the European Research Council (http://erc.europa.eu/index.cfm) have been received in the fields of thermoelectric, light-complex matter interaction, gene expression, earth observation, molecular simulation, molecular evolutionary biology and molecular systems biology. D4Science * The first major milestone of the Service Activities (MSA1.1 Production Infrastructure) has been reached. The production infrastructure includes sites from project partners CNR, ESA, NKUA, UNIBAS, ENG, BDM-USTRATH, and one non-partner site from Trinity College Dublin (EGEE prod). It runs the gCube software v1.0 and gLite v3.1. The infrastructure hosts a large amount of data, organised in 8 data collections, from the Environmental Monitoring community, and it supports one Virtual Organization (ImpECt) organized in three Virtual Research Environments (Digital Library, Vegetation, Demo) for production and dissemination purposes.
