ATLAS AS SEEN BY OUTSIDERS – SUMMARY REPORTS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC STUDIES

During the past few years, ATLAS has been studied by scholars from other fields than physics. These fields, among others, include economics, business management and sociology. As these studies are now completed, we have the pleasure presenting them to our Collaboration and all other interested members of our community.

• 15.15 What do external visitors understand about the purpose of ATLAS? Survey results carried out on people visiting the ATLAS Experiment (Nelly Senac, Lausanne University)
• 15.45 What do ATLAS researchers think about the way they manage knowledge? Survey results carried out in ATLAS (Beatrice Bressan, Geneva University)
• 16.15 What do theories say about organizations such as ATLAS? Study on organizations and how ATLAS fits in the Zoo (Jenni Hyppola, University of Helsinki)
• 16.45 How does ATLAS work (or not)? Study of how ATLAS as a community self-organized itself to solve challenges faced during early construction years (Philipp Tuertscher, Vienna University)
• 17.15 How does leadership work in a scientific community like ATLAS? Study on scientific leadership and the dynamics of a collaboration such as ATLAS (Shantha Liyanange, Macquarie University)
