Description

Fiducialization of LCLS undulators is based on magnetic field measurements by Hall probe. In this paper we discuss the fiducialization procedure, method and accuracy of coordinate transfer from center of the Hall probe sensitive area to the undulator fiducial marks. Pointed magnets or "magnetic needles", proposed by Isaak Vasserman[1], are used as an intermediate reference. A prototype of the intermediate reference fixture has been fabricated and tested. The pointed magnets calibration procedure, a special algorithm for locating the magnetic center of the fixture, and test results are also presented.
