Description
In the framework of the measurement applications that have been developed for the
LHC superconducting magnets quality analysis, a new level has been reached in the
measurements and tests automation. The CERN SM18 test benches facility is dedicated
to the reception tests and magnetic characterization of the dipoles, SSS’s and
special SSS’s. During the last four years the electronic and controls systems of
this facility have been fitted with a wide range of software applications that
allow execution of insulation and power tests, magnetic measurement and quench
performance analysis. The final integration of the bench orchestration, the
configuration management system and the magnetic measurement program provide to the
SM18 operation a fast and fully automated system. The main parts of this software
chain will be presented.
