Conference: 460+ participants registered as of 10 September 2008. The programme has been reviewed to the finest detail, and the programme booklet is being printed. All material, logistics and preparations are under control. The PO is coordinating travel arrangements for cca. 30 people (External Advisory Members, business participants or outside the EC). The Collaboration Board will meet on 24 September, when talks will be given on the project status, administrative and financial and discussion held on matters that have arisen in the first 5 months of the project. The plenary sessions and EGI workshop will be streamed over the network through a collaboration with the GLOBAL project. The PMB will meet on the 25th September to discuss the final EGEE-II fund distribution, all matters arising and to decide on the location of EGEE'09, appointment of new technical director and new PMB chair. Grant Agreement: the first amendment is in preparation, to implement the seed resources fund allocation and transfer of funds to cover business speaker costs at events from ElsagDatamat Italy to CERN as CERN will be organizing these trips. Web: The project office is currently refining it's "consortium area" to ensure all relevant tools, documents and procedures are readily accessible to the project members. Review recommendations from EGEE-II: As requested by the EC, the project raised questions where applicable to the EC and will prepare detailed answers in the course of October. Reports: The first Quarterly report will be submitted to the EC on 15 September. Several deliverables will also be submitted that day, so other than a few minor delays, the project is on track with its reporting commitments in the programme of work. Tools: Synchronisation between PPT, SIMBA and EDMS is now working well and all members are filling their timesheets in the tool. The next stage is the implementation of the cost claim tab which will be presented (if all goes well) at EGEE'08. IT Fest: Members of the Project office are participating actively to ensure coverage of all logistics related to the event. EGEE-III CPLO * Ongoing MoU preparation with several strategic projects to define common programme of work: EDGeS, SEE-GRID-SCI, GENESI-DR, BalticGrid-II; planned in the future: EELA-2, EUFORIA, GridTalk * EGEE and Collaborating projects joint publication finalised https://edms.cern.ch/file/964261/1/EGEE_booklet2008-FINAL.pdf ; printed copies will be distributed at EGEE'08. * New collaborating project registration from DORII, bringing the total to 16 active registered EGEE collaborating projects. EnviroGrids * Negotiations ongoing; all partners' budgets cut by 20%; DoW to be finalised by 30 Sept. EC proposals for Call 4:FP7-INFRASTRUCTURES-2008-2, topic: INFRA-2008-1.2.2: Scientific Data Infrastructure http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.CapacitiesDetailsCallPage&call_id=122 * D4Science II (Data Infrastructures Ecosystem for Science) proposal is being finalised. It involves participation of IT and the CERN library teams. CERN IT will coordinate the operation of the production infrastructure based on gLite and gCube (linked to EGEE production). The CERN library will make the INSPIRE repository interoperable with D4Science infrastructure and develop complex algorithms on top of the INSPIRE content to be executed in the D4Science infrastructure. * CERN is participating in the SPIDER (Super Petascale data Infrastructure for Distributed e-Health and biomedical Research) proposal which aims to provide a multi-disciplinary data infrastructure for e-health and biomedicine. IT will participate in grid deployment and support (funded) and EGI_DS liaison and related sustainability activity (unfunded).
