16:30 → 17:10 The Minuit Upgrade Project

Minuit is currently being used in a standard Fortran 77 version and in various C and C++ versions which have been derived directly from the Fortran. In particular, there is a good C++ version in Root, but it also is a straightforward adaptation of the Fortran. We are now embarking on a project to see whether it is worthwhile making a proper object-oriented version in C++ (and possibly Java). At the same time, we may make other improvements, both to the algorithms and to the user interface. Suggestions and criticisms from the user community will be important input for the project.
