The UK based Open Grid Service Architecture - Data Access and Integration (OGSA-DAI) project is currently designing and building a middleware reference implementation of the components required to access and integrate data in a Grid environment. The objective is that Grid data services will provide the ability to discover, manage, and access data resources within an OGSA compliant architecture.
The OGSA-DAI reference implementation supports access to data in relational databases (MySQL, DB2 and Oracle), and data in XML repositories (Xindice). This presentation provides an overview of the OGSA-DAI architecture, together with Grid data service functional capabilities and future direction.
BIOGRAPHY
Dave Pearson started his career in IT more than 25 years ago after initially working as an exploration geologist. He spent a number of years in the oil industry developing grid-like applications which integrated data from different sources and visualised the results to support exploration and production processes. For the past 14 years he has worked for Oracle Corporation UK. He undertook consulting assignments in all industrial sectors before moving into management. He has been involved in Grid activities for the past year and is a member of the UK Grid Database Taskforce.
