Description
This talk is aimed at researchers interested in building up links with industry to disseminate CERN technology into commercial applications. What sort of ideas are suitable for transfer from particle physics to business? Why do CERN Member States, including the UKs PPARC want to encourage technology transfer? How can the market potential for an idea be evaluated? Business models - industry contacts, collaborative development, technology transfer & licensing, consultancy, spinout ventures. Success factors - a top ten guide. Looking for support? Help from the UK's PPARC (PIPSS, CASE, TCS etc). Nathan Hill is Managing Director of Qi3, a company which is involved in the marketing and sale of technologies. He also acts as PPARC's Industry Coordinator with specific responsibility for encouraging technology transfer between UK university groups and industry. Nathan is also CERN ETT's UK Technology Transfer Coordinator.
