Is it possible to increase the proton intensity for CNGS by a factor 2 or 3?

The maximum proton flux foreseen for CNGS (in dedicated mode) is 0.8 E13 p/s. Possible methods of increasing this value will be presented and discussed; firstly pointing out the main problems concerning high intensity beams and secondly by proposing possible solutions. Some of these are at present theoretically and experimentally under study.
