Description
To carry out the transverse diagnostic of the LHC proton beams, it is planned to use a synchrotron radiation monitor. In order to review the feasibility and to optimise the performance over the whole LHC energy range, a comparative study of various types of sources was untertaken. The results obtained made it possible to propose the installation of a superconducting undulator combined with a separation dipole to measure the beam profiles over all the energy ramp.
