D-instanton corrections to the gauge kinetic function

The relation between the (non-holomorphic) gauge coupling and the holomorphic gauge kinetic function in D-brane models is discussed. It is shown how the charged matter D-instanton calculus yields a holomorphic superpotential. An observation concerning D-instanton amplitudes is used to conjecture new so called poly-instanton corrections to holomorphic quantities. The computation of such corrections in a concrete model is presented.
