This is the second special LCG Generator working (internal) meeting dedicated to the Management of GENSER Releases.
The goal of these meetings is to define the policy and the procedures for the administration of the LCG Generator software (including the preparation of the GENSER official, test & bug fix releases, installation in AFS, prapartion of distribution kits, administration of the repository, organization of workspaces, etc).
In the first meeting it was agreed to follow the general guidelines of other LCG software projects (for example GEANT 4), adopting a coherent versioning and preserving some ascpects specific to GENSER (official release rate = 4/year, location of subpackages, organizazion of subpackage' directory structure).
In this second meeting, the librarian/developer currently taking on these duties should give us an overview of the (techical) methods employed until now, enfasizing on the aspects that allow for possible improvements.
Among the aspects that can certainly be improved, let me mention the policy for GENSER pre- and bug fix releases. We should try to understand how to customize to GENSER the policy currently adopted for other LCG projects (for example GEANT 4).
