Description
The beam interlock system of the LHC is a central system for machine protection since
it provides the interface between user systems and the beam dumping system. This
presentation is focused on the main design concepts and overall architecture of the
LHC beam interlock system. Interfaces to the interlock system users, to the beam
dumping system as well as to LHC injector chain will be described. The general
concepts of protection during the very critical injection process will be discussed.
