The 2nd Grid Initiative Summer School, held by the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) in Bucharest, July 18th - August 1st, 2005.
The UPB Grid Initiative is a yearly event targeting mainly an undergraduate audience, focusing on the following main objectives:
1. To help students become accustomed with the fundamental components of Grid environments, in a hands-on approach (the training objective);
2. To select, through a quantitative and qualitative comparison, the Grid components which are currently best-suited for our short-term future Grid projects (the technical objective – introduced this year);
3. To select and recruit the most skilled attendants for future Grid projects (the human resource objective).
