Attendees are invited to the LHC OPN Dinner on September 20, 2006 at 19:00 hrs, hosted by SURFnet. Please inform Erik-Jan Bos in case you plan to join the Dinner.
The SURFnet Offices are located in the centre of Utrecht, adjacent to the train station "Utrecht Centraal", and hence are easily reachable by a direct train service of Dutch Railways from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Please visit directions to the SURFnet Offices for finding your way to the Offices.
The recommended hotel near the Utrecht Centraal train station and the SURFnet Offices is:
Park Plaza Hotel
Westplein 50
3531 BL Utrecht
Phone: +31 30 292 5200
An alternate hotel is the NH Utrecht
Jaarbeursplein 24
3521 AR Utrecht
Phone: +31 30 297 7977
In the meeting room, wireless LAN will be available (of course) using 802.11a, 11b and 11g. The preferred method for access is eduroam but we will be able to get you on-line using WEP-key only as well.
This agenda is still preliminary
Coffee will be served while setting up your wireless
I will spend some minutes talking about the roll out of ESnet4. We have a reasonably firm schedule now, and this will give a clear picture of the circuits and bandwidths for USLHCNet to US T1 centers, and T1 to T2s and/or T2 peering points.
Although we are provisioning anything, and there is no central design of provisioning, all parties T0, T1s and T2s need inceased understanding. We need to appreciate and discuss the whole networking situation for LHC with the networks, at least for our mutual information and understanding.
At the last OPN meeting in Cambridge, we decided that we wold foster the use of perfsonar for OPN monitoring and operations. There was some discussions about how it was a modular framework, and how it would be useful to make sure that all component networks needed to get some traction in deploying common or similar features so that the whole OPN could be monitored.
From DANTE we will present the status of our discussions with C-S for the implementation of the E2ECU and how it afftects LHC. We shall also show how ENOC and E2ECU will interact with one another at runtime. However for the interim phase, I think it is really down to Mathieu to say concretely how intercation with ENOC will work in practice.
I will present shortly what we have drafted to support the OPN in the interim phase. Apart from the issues I already stressed, we have some of the functionalities in place on our side, e.g. the detection of TT that might signal a problem on the OPN and the broadcast of the info to the T1s. I would like to test this before the meeting to give a preview to people.
