I will talk about the energy use at CERN and the improvements which have been achieved. Further ideas will be discussed, together with the (sometimes unsurmountable) problems to implement them. Special emphasis will be put on the vacuum-insulated thermal solar collectors, which have been developed at CERN, using technologies stemming from the accelerators.
