EGEE-II:
Final input is being received from partners regarding the outstanding points raised by the Commission on the financial reports submitted. The 45 day timeframe for review and reimbursement will begin once all is submitted on the project's part, by 24 October.
The project has compiled its initial responses to the final review recommendations and intends to submit them shortly to the EC.
EGEE-III:
The Deliverable DNA1.4, transition to a sustainable infrastructure, is being edited for submission to the management board for discussion at the extraordinary meeting on 6 November at CERN.
The Project Office is reviewing data for EGEE'08, compiling attendance statistics and other relevant material for future events.
The combined EGEE User Forum and OGF event (March 2009, Catania) preparations are well underway and the call for submissions has been announced.
The preparations for country reviews (verifying the state of grid deployment and preparations for transition to sustainable model) are under discussion, for implementation in February 2009.
The Grant Agreement amendment has been completed and will be submitted at the start of November. It includes the change of signatory for official documents for CERN (T. Lagrange), as well as:
- Transfer of 12k Euro from Italian partner ED to CERN to fund business speaker travel costs at EGEE events.
- The allocation, in equal shares, of the 51k Euro seed resources funds to France, Greece, Poland and UK. Seed resources are intended for new Virtual Organisations.
- The cost neutral increase in manpower for INFN in SA1 (operations) and JRA1 (Middleware).
- The change in frequency from bi-monthly to quarterly of the EGEE newsletter.
Staff:
The new Technical Director, Stephen Newhouse will take up post on 1 November.
Erwin Laure leaves CERN on 31 October to take-up the position of director of PDC-HPC at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. As technical director and project deputy director, Laure has played a pivotal role in developing the EGEE infrastructure and its use by an increasing number of diverse scientific disciplines. The project extends warm thanks for his hard work and congratulations as he moves on to a new position.
Anna Cook will take over as deputy GL of EGE as of 1 November.
A support officer (temporary labour) has been requested to provide support in the Collaborating Liaison Office area.
Isabelle Droux is providing support to Dita Mocova in the monitoring of related project budgets.
Some changes in EGE group sections are foreseen and will be implemented in Jan’09.

The collaborating projects have been invited to provide input to EGEE’s transition plans for the sustainable model (Deliverable DNA1.4, mentioned above) and it is expected that this plan will be discussed with them at the EC concertation meeting on 24th November in Lyon.
