Description

Bunch length measurement in linear accelerators can be carried out using a Radio Frequency Deflector (RFD). A RFD provides a transverse kick (vertical or horizontal) to the beam introducing a correlation between the longitudinal and the transverse coordinates of the bunch. Therefore, the bunch length can be obtained by means of a transverse beam size measurement on a screen, placed after the RFD. In this poster, a metrological characterization of this measurement technique is proposed. Preliminary results were obtained through simulation by means of ELEctron Generation ANd Tracking (ELEGANT) code on the parameters interesting for the electron linac of the Compton source at the Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP).
