Description

RENO was the first reactor neutrino experiment taking data using two identical detectors in 2011.
After our first measurement of the smallest neutrino mixing angle theta13 with 4.9 sigma (220 days) in 2012,we have obtained new results using 500 days data with a rate+shape analysis method and we find that sin2(2 theta13) = 0.082 +/- 0.009(stat.) +/- 0.007(sys.) and |dm2ee| = [2.61 +/- 0.21(stat.) +/- 0.23(sys.)] x 10-3 eV2.
The increased event statistics, reduced not only our statistical uncertainties but also greatly reduce our systematic uncertainties since they are estimated from data not MC.  The relatively large value of theta13 allows searching for neutrino mass ordering and leptonic CP violation phase  angle measurement.  We plan to build a multi-purpose RENO-50 detector (18 kton liquid scintillator).
One of the main goals of RENO-50 is to determine mass ordering, which is very challenging.
