AFS service/operation meeting

AFS operations meeting 2015-12-14

present: Dan, Kuba, Massimo, Jan

Issues:

• afs257 (1.6.15, upstream) boinc-ed again this weekend. restarted by Dan, moved work.boinc away (to afs289)
  • choose_disk can get stuck - use "simple" random algorithm?
  • several "vos" processes still piled up, new LEMON exception fired several times. Discussed but no perfect solution.. Manually cleaned up
• will remove external volserver access in January (affects "vos exa")
• "IT CC AFS" LanDB set will go, asked experiments to use the new smaller subsets
• MacOS "El Capitan" client: tried to rebuild (needs several Gerrit patches), but would still need changes to install under /usr/local (some tools try to go into /usr/afs/ even without TransArc path, /usr is now effectively readonly)
  • Signing DMG via Matthias is cumbersome (needs to be unpackaged, signed, repackaged)
  • unclear whether a kernel module is still needed, would need different signing key for that..
  • apparently little external interest ? D.Botsch might be good contact.
• ABS: started to package as RPM
