Description
The Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) project brings together experts from over 40 countries with the common aim of building on recent advances in Grid technology and developing a service Grid infrastructure which is available to scientists and companies 24 hours-a-day. The project provides researchers in academia and industry with access to a production level Grid infrastructure, independent of their geographic location. The EGEE project also focuses on attracting a wide range of new users to the Grid.

The third phase of the EGEE project started on the 1st of May 2008, flagging application porting as one of the key support activities. In order to provide high quality porting service, the EGEE-III project set up a geographically distributed Application Porting Group. The group is coordinated by MTA SZTAKI GASuC team.

The main scope of the training is to introduce the center and its supported tools, such as the P-GRADE Grid portal, which is a web based, service rich environment for the development, execution and monitoring of workflows and workflow based parameter studies on various grid platforms. P-GRADE Portal hides low-level grid access mechanisms by high-level graphical interfaces, making even non grid expert users capable of defining and executing distributed applications on multi-institutional computing infrastructures. Workflows and workflow based parameter studies defined in the P-GRADE Portal are portable between grid platforms without learning new systems or re-engineering program code.
