Tour de Table
Participants: Yanliang, Juergen, Cafer, Edu, Andrea, Georgia
Yanliang: strength errors in the CLIC RTML are critical, especially in quadrupoles. The reason for this might be the optics mismatch they introduce. One idea is to use H-displaced sextupoles (which introduce normal quadrupole terms) to provide correcting quadrupolar components. So the correction strategy could be: 1:1 - H-sextupoles to correct the optics - DFS to correct the dispersion - V-sextipoles to correct coupling, iterating if necessary.
Georgia: is working on comparing C-chicane bunch compressor with dog-leg chicanes featuring sextupole magnets. The goal is to understand how the sextupole strength couples with chicane parameters allowing to tune the T566.
Juergen: FEL meeting at PSI next week, preparing for it - Online-DFS, working on the paper - Stray fields wth Edu, good progress, we plan a dedicated meeting in April
Edu: Drive Beam optimization with two realistic distributions from Avni, one which is a simulation of a thermionic gun and one for a photo-injector, performances seem good in both cases. Now a further optimization of the sexupoles is on-going.
Cafer: parmela simulations of the positron source, something to understand before we can use RF-Track to accurately evaluate the losses; design of the injector linac. He chose a FODO with 90 degrees phase advance. The FODO paramters are tricky because the losses have to be kept small, and there is a quadrupole aperture limitation due to the fact that the quadrupoles surround the RF cavities.
Andrea: working on TULIP with Stefano; studying how to implement electron cooling in RF-Track.
