D. Schulte made some general announcements on the future structure of the CLIC Beam Physics Meeting. Besides the regular CERN internal meeting there will be a general meeting open to the collaborators. This meeting will take place once a month and will be broadcasted using WebEx. The exact date still has to confirmed but it will be on a Wednesday 16:00, i.e. the same time slot as the regular meeting. F. Stulle will write minutes and administer the Indico pages for both meetings.
R. Tomas reported on thoughts about doubling the L*. This was proposed by A. Seryi to ease the design of the final focus system and to get rid of the interplay of the last quadrupole with the solenoid field of the detector. Unfortunately, the luminosity would decrease. It is also not clear if the design would really become easier since the FFS would be longer and chromaticity would increase. A lot work remains to be done for a final decision. After his talk the feasibility was discussed and whether this would be an option for the CDR or not. It was generally agreed that the required studies would take too long to fit in the given time table.
M. Martini introduced the code MOCAC which was developed at ITEP Moscow for simulation of intra beam scattering. The code is based on Monte-Carlo methods and a so called binary collision model. P.R. Zenkevich and A.E. from ITEP are currently visiting CERN to show how to use the code and to improve it according to the needs of the CLIC damping rings. Since there were many questions on the IBS model, there will be a follow-up of this talk next week.
