LHC EWWG aTGC ATLAS+CMS+TH discussion
Indico:
https://indico.cern.ch/event/518527/
Participants:
Adam Falkowski, Vasiliki Kouskoura, Alex Oh, Francesco Rica, Brian Lindquist, Chariclia Petridou, Michael Kobel, Rafael Lopes de Sa, Kristin Lohwasser
Status of recommendation document:
SVN skeletton made. Not much progress on content. Francesco and Adam have been busy writing up the EFT validity document,
they hope to be finished by next week. The interplay between direct resonance searches and the EFT approach will be discussed.
Action Items:
Last meetings action items were assigned to people to have a first look at come back with a progress report
for next meeting.
AI(1) - CLs vs Neyman coverage vs LL
Look at the differences of CLs, Neyman coverage and loglikelihood in the context of anomalous gauge couplings, namely
in the case of downward and upward fluctuations of data wrt to SM expectation.
Assigned to Rafael
AI(2) - Frameworks for gauge coupling extraction
Survey what is available in the higgs area about morphing, event by event reweighting etc for signal modelling.
Assigned to Kristin
AI(3) - Cut-off scale study
Study the effect of applying the cut-off on the data with a kinematic cut or only in the MC signal modelling.
The effects are probably different in di-boson production and VBS due to the different dynamics.
What effect does it have on the sensitivity?
AI(3-1) Assigned di-boson study to Kristin
AI(3-2) Assigned VBS study to Michael
As follow on studies to AI(3) could look at effect of a hypothetical resonance above the cut-off scale
on aGC limits.
Communiation:
AI(4): Revive mailing for LHC EWK or find out how to do this.
Assigned to Alex
Other action items were defined but postponed:
AI(4) Define sufficient set of operators for Higgs and SMEWK combinations.
Other questions raised:
Q(1): Is NLO EWK / alpha_s for aTGC or aQGC modelling relevant?
Q(2): What are the implication when combining VBF type vs diboson type aGC measurements?
Next meeting:
We decided to have monthly short meeting.
Next meeting 9th May 4pm.
