Draft Magnets List, Main Beam RTML
Participants: E. Adli, F. Antoniou, R. Corsini, B. Dalena, A. Dubrovskiy, M. Fitterer, B. Jeanneret, Y. Papaphilippou, J. Pfingstner, L. Rinolfi, D. Schulte, F. Stulle, R. Tomas, G. Vanbavinckhove, A. Vivoli D. Schulte reported on the last CSC meeting. It was requested to have more presentations on beam physics. For the ACE meeting in May we have to evaluate how far studies could evolve until the end of 2010, i.e. what will be the status which will be reported in the CDR. Which are the most critical items? D. Schulte informed that from 23.06. to 25.06. there will be an ILC CLIC Beam Physics Workshop at CERN. F. Stulle presented a first draft of a magnet specification list. This list is intended to be a concise summary of all magnets required for CLIC. It will be a basis for a cost estimate and used also to identify magnets which require more than standard R&D. It was discussed which data should be in this list and how the list should be structured. F. Stulle will update the list and send it around. E. Adli reported on an optimization he performed for the number of different quadrupoles and power supplies required in the decelerator. A good solution seems to have 50-100 different families of quadrupoles. F. Stulle showed the recent development in the RTML. Initial beam parameters were slightly changed to improve damping ring design. This required adjustments in the bunch compression system. The energy after the booster linac was reduced to lower emittance growth induced by incoherent synchrotron radiation in the turn around loop. The individual systems of the RTML have been integrated to allow simulation from the exit of the damping rings up to the entrance of the main linac. Some arcs, the spin rotator and the transfer to the tunnel have been skipped due to unavailability of lattices. RTML lattices will be available for the codes ELEGANT and PLACET. B. Jeanneret gave an update to last weeks talk on the issue of off-momentum particles in MADX. He produced example files to use the correct PTC module of MADX for matching.
