Pedro Leitao: Discussion on ActivePresenter - the screen capture tools used to record GBTX (electronics) short tutorials
Pedro used the following tools, on a windows machine, to record configuration instructions on electrics' tools they support in EP-ESE-ME (an ASIC called GBTX).
The aim of this meeting is to discuss with Alexandre and make a table of functionality features and compare the tools.
In this way it will be easier for users to choose and/or for us to justify a given recommendation.
Pedro's list of products and his comments:
Activepresenter, this allowed me to assemble the videos and record the screen with good quality, and the post edit is quite intuitive. This will allow me to zoom-in at several portions of the video so that the text gets bigger
Logitech’s webcam record (could have used ffmpeg)
To enhance the mic audio I’ve used some filters from Audacity. The filters applied filters are the following (by order - other recipes are also valid!)
- Noise reduction
- Normalization (-1dB)
- Envelope filter
- Equalization (bass, then treble)
- Normalization
- Pedro
Alexandre's notes :
* The tool used for the tutorials is ActivePresenter. It seems to be a really great tool and quite intuitive but apparently only available for Windows.
* ActivePresenter allows to manage also the videos as slides (PowerPoint style)
* It is possible to manage the different files (audio, text and several videos input) separately
* It is quite easy to add / remove material on the videos.
* The link to the tool is http://atomisystems.com/activepresenter/
* Pedro will adapt the video size to zoom more on the part with command, browser and text.
* He asked if it is possible to use the logo he used for his tutorial. He found it nicer.
* He asked for a meeting with Maria on Monday 11.07.2016
* He asked about warnings he read in the guidelines about not to add text on the CERN logo.
* He want to publish his tutorials in CDS
* We talked a little bit about ffmpeg and the scripts Alexandre developed. Pedro said if he were a Linux user he would like to use those scripts with ffmpeg but for him it is easier to use ActivePresenter on Windows.
Pedro's note:
Alexandre summarized the meeting. No minutes to add
